The exchange rates displayed in this calculator are the mid-market rates. This is the midpoint between the buy and sell prices of two currencies in the global market. It is the "truest" rate, but it is not necessarily the rate you will get as a consumer.
Hidden Fees to Watch Out For
Foreign Transaction Fees
Many US credit cards charge a 3% fee on every purchase made outside the US. Always travel with a card that specifically states "No Foreign Transaction Fees."
Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)
When a foreign merchant asks if you want to pay in USD instead of the local currency, always say NO. Paying in USD triggers DCC, which uses a terrible exchange rate. Always choose to pay in the local currency.
